The following Bible verse can be difficult to interpret, but I want to break it down for you as simply as I can, because it’s the verse my company is based on!

But if you want to #liveveiledfree, you need to understand what that actually means, right?

“Now where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all with unveiled faces, contemplate the Lord’s glory and are being transformed by it.”
– 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

This is one of the most important verses in the Bible to understand, meditate on, and share with others – because Paul is informing us of the colossal difference between the old and new covenants – and understanding this difference is relevant to how we live today!

In the Old Testament, God said to the Hebrews,

“I will be your God and you will be My people”
– Leviticus 26:12

buuuuuut there were stipulations to this covenant (or agreement).

Check out the story: Moses climbed Mount Sinai. God gave him the laws – aka the Ten Commandments – to share with His people and the agreement was fulfilled.

Now you have to realize that when you are in the presence of the Holy God, you can’t help but change. You transform. And that’s exactly what happened with Moses during this encounter. He had been in God’s presence for 40 days! By the time he returned to his homeland, no one could even look at him because of how radiant his physical appearance was. His face was shining so brightly that he had to wear a covering or a “veil” so that people could look at him without hurting their eyes, and listen to his instruction about the new laws they were to uphold.

Fast forward time and God makes a new covenant that isn’t built on keeping up with the law. This new covenant is what you and I adhere to this very day!

God the Father, God the Son, and God The Holy Spirit makes us new!

Because of that salvation and security – we are FREE. We can enter the presence of God anytime because his Spirit lives in us! We become like Jesus the more we press into Him, and become transformed from the inside out! We don’t have to cover ourselves with a “veil” – like Moses – because we are called to exude light and separate ourselves from this dark world.

So, if you’ve ever been to a church that is only focused on works, or being a good person, or following a strict set of rules to get into Heaven, this idea most likely stems from this covenant made in the Old Testament between God and His people through keeping the Ten Commandments. Although it’s wonderful (and biblical) to strive to be like Christ every day, it’s not accurate to think your way into Heaven can be earned by good works alone! Jesus said,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me.”
–John 14:6

“For it is by grace through faith you are saved.”
– Ephesians 2:8-9

Conclusion: The old covenant was based on rules and exclusive only to God’s people. The new covenant is based on God’s grace and mercy given to us as a gift and is offered to everyone.

It’s easy to buy into what the WORLD values (popularity, money, power, appearance, etc.) instead of what GOD values: (character, integrity, love, sacrifice, etc.) and with that daily struggle comes the burden of never being truly satisfied or peaceful.

When you choose to #‎liveveiledfree – you own this amazing freedom by trusting God with your LIFE and you don’t feel pressured to earn your way into Heaven! You try to obey God’s laws because He really does know what’s best for you and because you fear and respect Him. You can live in a HAPPY mindset, because you have eternal life!!!

Annnd in the meantime… just like to smile, be yourself, love people enough to tell them about Jesus and the freedom you’ve experienced!
