The Clay

Oct 29, 2015

“Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?” – Isaiah 45:9

Let’s look at this verse from a literal sense. I’m molding this clay with an end result in mind. As I work my hands through the shaping clay – I know by the end of tonight – I will have made something from nothing. This is a tiny glimpse into God’s perspective when forming you and I.

Let’s say we represent the clay. How absurd would it be for us to contend with God (the potter) over His plans for the future?! Seriously, humans know very little comparatively – yet we question God constantly.

You’ve got to let go of your fears and uncertainty about the unknown. Remember, God’s “big picture” allows us to trust Him fully. Even though it’s human nature to question, trust God’s perfect eternal perspective. He literally knows everything, and has your end result in mind.

My challenge to you: think of the imagery (me holding and shaping the clay). Now, think of God holding, molding, and creating your tomorrow. Don’t argue with your Creator – he made the end result.

Love this analogy! And it’s what we tell the girls every day. 🙂 And how we live our day-to-day life. We never know what God has planned for us, but we put our faith into His knowledge.

I’m glad it spoke to you, Ann! Keep instilling that into your children and it might keep them from becoming anxious like the majority of kids out there today…
