Wedding Day Memories + Vendors

wedding

The officiant began our wedding ceremony with these words of wisdom, “Marriage is a holy estate given by God to fulfill us as individuals and as a couple and to conform us as maturing believers into the image of Christ.”

I see that so vividly now. I’m living the bible verses that I’ve grown up reading:

  • “Two are better than one.”
  • “What God has joined together let not man separate.”
  • “Then the Lord God said it is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him a helper.”
  • “My beloved is mine and I am his.”

And Paul’s living out this bible verse (that he’s had on his cork board since he was a teenager…)

“An excellent wife who can find, she is far more precious than jewels.”

This year has been the best year of our lives. We feel privileged and humbled that God would ask us to love one another until death. Our wedding day was pure bliss. A blur full of love, laughter, tears, and joy! I don’t remember a lot of the beautiful, sentimental details that I worked so hard to plan, but I do remember anxiously awaiting to see Paul. I kept asking my bridesmaids what time it was, because it felt like an eternity!

I thought it would be fun to re-visit our wedding day in honor of our one year anniversary!

We got married in front of a large oak tree on May 28, 2016. The wedding venue was a french-country mansion outside of Fort Worth, Texas. We loved how relaxed yet timeless and romantic it felt. The only thing Paul absolutely wanted to choose was the song I walked down the aisle to. He chose “A Thousand Years” and it was played beautifully by the string quartet. We wanted our guests to feel involved so we asked everyone to underline a special verse in the Bible rather than having a traditional guest book at the entrance. We draped sheer, white fabric around the reception space for a lighter ambiance. We kept the table centerpieces small so we could focus our money elsewhere. Paul and I love to dance to oldies in the kitchen while cooking, doing house or yard work, and in the car (usually while Paul misses an exit because he’s bad at multitasking haha)! We’re huge Sinatra fans so we chose “As Time Goes By” for our first dance as husband and wife. We also had a private slow dance after everyone went home (Ed Sheeran – “Thinking Out Loud” – of course). It was one of my favorite memories and a great way to wind down after such an amazing and emotional day.

Marrying Paul was the best decision I’ve ever made, apart from accepting Christ as my Savior.

He makes me believe in true, real, unwavering love. He makes me feel protected and secure. He makes me want to be better. He makes me “ugly laugh” and he holds me when I’m hurting. He encourages my walk with the Lord, and He leads our family sacrificially without complaint. We feel very loved by our family and friends and every single person who reads this blog.
